Hot Rockin Belle is thrilled to be stocking the Balm’s Vintage inspired make-up, founded and ethically produced in San Francisco by CEO Marissa Shipman.

Marissa realized that there were a few simple products she needed to help her feel glam all the time. Then she decided that if she needed them, other women probably did too.

So she went to Amazon, bought 11 books on how to make makeup and started mixing in her kitchen. “I went crazy. I had a web site designed, got incorporated, worked out a budget, and hired a chemist.” And the rest is history!  Well, not yet but with her great ingredients, gorgeous colors and fabulous scents, Marissa is certainly making makeup history.

We love the versatile  shadow palettes, sumptuous lipsticks, dual purpose compacts, stunning highlighters, all beautifully packaged and made from high quality ingredients!

So come take a peek and start creating your own vintage look today!

  5. Amy Winehouse: a beehive tribute to our heroine of the fiftie’s revival

    August 18, 2011 by admin

    amy

We are still struggling to come to terms with the death of Amy Winehouse, who at just 27, follows in the untimely death of some of our greatest musical heroes; Cobain, Morrison Hendrix and Joplin.

From that eyeliner flick to that traffic stopping beehive, Amy Winehouse catapulted the fifties look back into all our lives. Headscarves, full red lips and lollipop colours, she took her inspiration from the likes of Diana Ross and The SupremesThe Ronettes and Dusty Springfield; the inspirational wave of the first female fiftie’s rock n’roll artists.

In a tribute to Amy, we have put together a collection of our favourite beehives.

Here’s to you girls…thank you for the music.

We are loving this rockabilly style spot by the Grazia team.

Is it the green tipped hair or the white socks that wins it?

  7. How to Rock 50′s Vintage Rockabilly Make-up

    July 29, 2011 by admin

There is something about the vintage rockabilly, 50′s pin-up girl that encapsulates a strong, independent, sexy women like no other look. It just ooozes confidence.

So how should you rock that vintage rockabilly make-up look?

It’s nonchalant- even though you look spectacular, you also have an air of ‘everyone else can be damned’ about you.

  8. Shoes, glorious shoes!

    dita von teese rockabilly burlesque

A woman and her shoes is a sacred relationship that no man, woman or child or should come between. It’s impossible to know where it began- I mean Barbie didn’t even wear shoes did she? And most of my mum’s shoes looked more like the slipper variety growing up.

But it’s there, pure and true, and to celebrate, we have introduced a seriously sexy, gravity defying new Iron Fist mean streak platform.

And if that isn’t enough, check out Dita von Teese, Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin talk about the ‘intimate relationship between women and their shoes’ in God, Save my Shoes.

  9. Italian Vogue goes ‘Large’, and so will Hot Rockin’ Belle!

    plus size models italian Vogue

The editor of Italian Vogue, Franco Sozzani, has championed the ‘plus-size’ women in the July edition of Italian Vogue, by featuring three, very beautiful plus-size models on the front cover, and Hot Rockin’ Belle plan to not be very far behind with the introduction of a new plus size range coming your way next season.

Everyday we get requests from women who’d love a plus-size range- something burlesque and rockabilly fashion is so perfect for- and yet finding fantastic designers to create the right look for our Hot Rockin’ Belles, hasn’t been an easy task. However, after months of sourcing, we’re proudly anticipating next season’s plus-size range.

In the meantime, we’ll keep you updated with the latest retro looks and how to recreate them, and lots of other Retro Rockabilly fashion loveliness.
